Katsunoura stable

勝ノ浦部屋

According to Japanese Wikipedia, Katsunoura stable was dissolved at the end of the January 1927 tournament and no longer exists; it is not among the 45 stables listed on the Japan Sumo Association's stable page. Japanese Wikipedia says the former ozeki Kimenyama Yoichiemon founded it in 1813 as the 2nd Katsunoura, splitting from Sakaigawa stable, and developed Arimayama Ryuemon into an ozeki, the second-highest rank. It also says the last head, the 7th Katsunoura, Takinooto Keigoro (later Mifunegata Daigoro), closed the stable and became an elder attached to Tokitsukaze stable.

HeadLast head: the 7th Katsunoura, Takinooto Keigoro (later Mifunegata Daigoro; earlier ring name Isoarashi Keinosuke, per SumoDB); highest rank maegashira 4 (per Japanese Wikipedia)
FoundedFounded as an independent stable in 1813, when the former ozeki Kimenyama Yoichiemon, retiring at the November 1813 tournament, became the 2nd Katsunoura and split from Sakaigawa stable (per Japanese Wikipedia). It was later closed and revived several times. The 6th Katsunoura, the former juryo Mifunegata Harukichi, took over in May 1898; the 7th head closed the stable at the end of the January 1927 tournament (per Japanese Wikipedia)
