Minezaki stable

峰崎部屋

Minezaki stable no longer exists under this name: its closure was approved by the board on 1 April 2021, when the head retired at 65. The head, 5 wrestlers and a referee moved to Shibatayama stable, and the others went to Takadagawa and Nishiiwa. The head was the 7th Minezaki (Nobutake Minezaki), who wrestled as Misugiiso and reached maegashira 2 at best. According to Japanese Wikipedia, the stable belonged to the Nishonoseki ichimon and was founded in December 1988. No yokozuna (the highest rank in sumo) or ozeki (the second-highest rank) is listed for the stable on that Japanese Wikipedia page.

According to Japanese Wikipedia, the stable made news in November 2012 by recruiting new apprentices at the joint tryout of 12 professional baseball clubs, and did so again in November 2013.

According to Japanese Wikipedia, the stable took in 13 people from the closed Hanagoma stable in 2012, and Arashiwashi, one of them, became its first makuuchi (top division) wrestler in 2014.
