Sadanoyama Shinmatsu

Sadanoyama Shinmatsu was a professional sumo wrestler from Nagasaki Prefecture whose highest rank was yokozuna, the highest rank in sumo. Born on 18 February 1938, he made his professional debut in January 1956. Following the January 1965 tournament he became yokozuna, and he won six championships in makuuchi, the top division. Over 71 career tournaments he compiled a record of 591 wins and 251 losses. After retiring in March 1968, he died on 27 April 2017 at the age of 79. As an active wrestler his last stable was Dewanoumi stable.
